| Deposition takes place under several
favourable conditions and different coastal features are formed a result. Examples of favourable conditions include
- a coast that has constructive waves so that more
materials are deposited by the swash than that washed away by backwash
- a coast that is sheltered from strong prevailing
winds so that there is more deposition than erosion
- waves carrying more load than they can transport,
thus the materials are deposited.
- shallow offshore water
- light wind
- a short fetch
Beaches
One of the features formed through deposition is a
beach.
A beach is a zone on the shore where deposited
materials are accumulated.
These materials are deposited in the zone between
the low water level and the high water level. And, these materials are very different in
size.
