Other than eroded materials from the
coasts, waves carry a few other materials, including materials deposited by rivers at the
coasts, materials transported from other coasts and materials brought up from the seabed.
Longshore drift
Note: Wind direction affects the
direction of the longshore drift.
In any obstruction projecting into
the sea such as a groyne, longshore drift is evident. Materials are accumulated on the
updrift side.
