The fluvial process has its source
in the upper valley of interlocking spurs
disposing energy by deepening gorges
hanging the dykes or sills
as it falls into plunging pools
It journeys over rapids and
cataracts
causing friction on its bed and banks
with its hydraulic power, colliding boulders
and chemical reactions of its minerals
The bedload rolls and pushes
with the bouncing pebbles
and the suspended particles
subjected to drag and gravity
meet others from tributaries
It snakes its way overland
concaving in river cliffs and
convexing in slip off slopes
cutting a meander to make
but later abandon an oxbow lake
It braids under its heavy load
and overflows under heavy rain
lining levees and flooding the plain
with gentle bluffs on its flanks
It spreads out its contents
in radiating distributaries
before discharging at the estuary
thus sharing its alluvium with every being
